“The Dance of Unity by the Da River” sets a Vietnam record
On January 2nd, the Muong Lay Ward People’s Committee organized the large-scale cultural event titled “The Dance of Unity by the Da River,” featuring a distinctive format aimed at establishing a Vietnam record.
The extended xoe dance circle at the paragliding landing site in Mo village, Muong Lay Ward.
The event was held within the framework of the 11th Swallow-Tail Boat Racing Festival of Muong Lay Ward in 2026, contributing a cultural highlight to the early days of the new year.
According to the Organizing Committee, the event mobilized approximately 10,000 participants, including officials, civil servants, public employees, armed forces personnel, students, youth union members, association members, and a large number of people from various ethnic groups in the area.

Students took part in the xoe dance circle at the Mechanical Boat Wharf – Nam Can Bridge.
The event space extended along a route of more than 6.5 kilometers, starting from the Mechanical Boat Wharf – Nam Can Bridge area, following Provincial Road 142, passing through the Mo village fields (connecting Mo village with Ô village), through Bac 1 and Bac 2 villages, and looping back to the Mechanical Boat Wharf – Nam Can Bridge. Along the riverside route of the Da River, activities were arranged appropriately to ensure continuity, safety, and urban aesthetics.

The xoe dance circle contributes to preserving the art of dance and community choreography of the ethnic groups in Dien Bien.
The core of the event was a mass community dance performance involving 10,000 people holding hands and performing synchronized movements continuously along the entire route of more than 6.5 kilometers. The choreography was developed on the basis of inheriting and promoting traditional cultural values, expressing the spirit of solidarity and harmony among the ethnic groups living in Muong Lay Ward in particular and the Northwest region in general.

In addition to the main mass performance, the Organizing Committee arranged a highlight activity featuring a smaller xoe dance circle combined with a traditional bonfire, with a scale of around 300 participants at the paragliding landing site in Mo village, Muong Lay Ward. This activity helped recreate community cultural practices, creating a joyful and festive atmosphere rich in ethnic identity.

The event “The Dance of Unity by the Da River” is expected to contribute to honoring the art of dance and community choreography of the ethnic groups in the Northwest region, while promoting the image of the land and people of Muong Lay to people nationwide and international friends.
