Co My village
Currently, the community-based tourism is developing in the Northwest region. Joining this type of tourism, visitors not only have the opportunity to admire the majestic mountain scenery, terraced fields of successive classes, but also have the opportunity to experience the unique cultural features of the local people. One of the destinations that tourists cannot ignore is Co My village, Thanh Chan commune, Dien Bien district.

According to the ethnic Thai language, Co My means jackfruit tree. The local people said that when the Thai people settled in the village, there was a large jackfruit tree that a few people hugged, the fruit was delicious so they named the village Co My.
In 1945, a big fire burned down many old stilt houses and jackfruit trees. Up to now, the jackfruit tree is no longer present, but villagers always remember the origin of its name.
Co My village has a natural area of about 60ha, with more than 100 households of Thai ethnic group living, the people live mainly on wet rice cultivation, cultivation and animal husbandry.
In order for the community-based tourism to develop, the village sent 5 people to attend a training course on community tourism; 5 people take part in a cooking class which was organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien then they restored and developed folk tunes, handicrafts and festivals typical of the Thai people.
Up to now, Co My has had an own performance team specializing in performing folk music performances and a team ready to prepare local dishes when visitors come ...
