Come to Dien Bien to see the blooming Ban flowers before the festival
The vast skies, winding rivers, and deep forests of the Northwest region of Vietnam embrace a legendary land called Dien Bien. Every spring, this place bursts into vibrant hues of blooming Ban flowers, accompanied by the radiant smiles of mountain maidens, enchanting visitors from near and far. As the Ban Flower Festival in March approaches, the flowers bloom even more brilliantly, captivating all who witness them.
Dien Bien stands as a steadfast borderland, rich in cultural diversity, portraying the ancient land of Muong Then – Muong Troi through its legendary tales of Ban flowers. These flowers are nature’s gift, symbolizing the eternal longing for love. The Thai ethnic people share a romantic folktale about the unwavering devotion between Ban and Khum, whose love defied societal constraints. The legend, intertwined with the resilient spirit of the Ban flowers blooming across the mountains, has become a symbol of beauty, soul, and character of the local people.
The hand of nature has bestowed upon this land a beauty that is both majestic, poetic, and lyrical; it has carved out many famous landscapes that captivate people's hearts, such as the U Va hot spring waterfall; the winding Nam Rom river carrying alluvium embracing the fields, Pa Thom cave, the immense waves of Muong Lay, Pa Khoang, the Tua Chua stone plateau, and the immense Muong Thanh fields. Dien Bien is also a good land that brings prosperity and peace to people, the cradle of a rich cultural region. Dien Bien has its own identity, nurtured by the vitality of the community of 19 ethnic groups. With a simple yet humane lifestyle. Coming to any traditional festival of the ethnic groups in Dien Bien province such as: Xen Ban, Xen Muong, Nao Pe Chau, Ga Ma Thu, Bun Huot Nam, Kin Pang Then... is coming to the depth of culture, to the pride of the ethnic community. This is also the source of strength for the ethnic groups to calmly go through all stages of history, joining hands to build Dien Bien more and more beautiful. 71 years after the Dien Bien Phu campaign in 1954 with its complete victory "famous in five continents, shaking the earth", the Ban flowers are once again blooming sweetly, adding to the beauty of a radiant Dien Bien in the new sunshine.
