The relic Doc Lap Hill (Gabrielle) was an important stronghold in the Northern subdivision of the French’s Dien Bien Phu Fortress with task of defending the Northeast, preventing our troops’ attack from Lai Chau and protecting Muong Thanh Airport. The battle on Doc Lap Hill took place extremely fiercely; however, thanks to their courage and ingenuity without faltering in the face of difficulties, from 3.30 a.m. to 6.30 a.m. on March 15th, 1954, our soldiers’ attack to Doc Lap stronghold ended successfully.
