Debut of the live-action performance “Legend of U Va” within the rramework of the 2026 Ban Flower Festival

As part of the series of activities of the 2026 Ban Flower Festival, on the evening of March 12, at the Cultural House of U Va Village, Thanh Yen Commune People’s Committee organized the live-action performance “Legend of U Va,” a large-scale artistic program recreating unique cultural, historical and legendary stories of the Muong Thanh region.

Comrade Tran Tien Dung, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, attended the live-action performance “Legend of U Va”.

Attending the program were Comrades: Tran Tien Dung, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Le Thanh Do, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; Le Van Luong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mua A Vang, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province; representatives of Inspection and Supervision Delegation No. 30 of the Politburo and the Secretariat; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; leaders of provincial departments and sectors, along with a large number of residents and visitors.

The live-action performance “Legend of U Va,” lasting more than 40 minutes, was staged based on the folk cultural materials of ethnic groups living in Dien Bien Province, particularly in the U Va – Thanh Yen area. The show recreated a legendary space, customs, daily life and the journey of settlement and protection of the land by local ethnic communities.

The performance featured nearly 80 professional and amateur performers, recreating the legend of U Va through distinctive folk dances with three main scenes. The first scene, “Legend of the Thai People,” recreated the legend of the “Mother Gourd,” a story about the origin of ethnic groups according to folk beliefs, reflecting the cultural roots and spiritual life of the inhabitants of the Muong Then region.

Provincial leaders and visitors joined in the atmosphere of the live-action performance at U Va Village.

The live-action performance recreated historical legends and distinctive folk dances of the Thai ethnic community in U Va Village and Dien Bien Province.

The second scene, “Legend of the Pieu Scarf – Ban Flower,” told the legendary love story between the young man Lu and the girl Ua. Through folk songs, folk dances and festival reenactments, the program vividly portrayed the cultural life of ethnic communities such as the Thai, Mong and Kho Mu in the Muong Thanh region.

The performance involved nearly 80 professional and amateur performers.

The third scene, “Xen Pang Festival,” recreated a traditional ritual of giving thanks to ancestors and heaven and earth, praying for favorable weather, abundant harvests and demonstrating the strong sense of community among ethnic groups in the Northwest region.

In addition to the live-action performance, Thanh Yen Commune also organized many distinctive cultural and tourism activities such as folk song, folk dance and folk music performances by village art teams; sports competitions and folk games; exhibitions promoting local cultural and tourism products; ethnic cultural experience spaces; and the “Legendary Gourd” check-in point.

The performance included three scenes: Legend of the Thai People (the Mother Gourd story), Legend of the Pieu Scarf – Ban Flower, and the Xen Pang Festival.

The launch of the live-action performance in U Va Village is expected to become a new cultural and tourism highlight of the province, contributing to the preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage values of ethnic groups and promoting community-based tourism development in the locality.

With a duration of more than 40 minutes, the performance brought visitors stories of the Thai ethnic people, from ancient legends and historical traces to cultural features closely associated with daily life, vividly recreated through unique folk dances of the Thai community.

This was the third year the live-action performance has been organized and it continued to receive great interest from residents and visitors from many places./.
