Dien Bien actively prepares for the 2026 Ban Flower Festival
The Ban Flower Festival, a typical cultural event of Dien Bien Province held annually in mid-March, was being urgently implemented by provincial authorities and sectors with a proactive and responsible spirit, ensuring appropriate scale, quality and effectiveness. In 2026, the Festival took place from March 6 to March 12 across the province, with key activities concentrated in Dien Bien Phu Ward.
Propaganda banners, posters and billboards promoting the 2026 Ban Flower Festival were prominently displayed along major streets.
The Ban Flower Festival is not only an occasion to introduce, preserve and promote traditional cultural heritage forms of ethnic groups in Dien Bien Province, but also closely connects cultural preservation with the exploitation of tourism potential and advantages, contributing to socio-economic development in the context of integration.
Ban flowers, a symbol of the Northwest mountains and forests, hold profound significance in the cultural and spiritual life of ethnic communities in Dien Bien in particular and the Northwest region in general. Through the Festival, the image of Dien Bien as a land rich in historical traditions and imbued with cultural identity continued to spread widely to both domestic and international visitors.
The Festival is held annually in March, associated with the opening of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign on March 13th, 1954, a glorious milestone in national history that was “resounding across the five continents and shaking the world.” Therefore, the festival atmosphere always blended the pure white beauty of Ban flowers with the heroic spirit of historical years. In 2026, the Festival also served as a practical activity celebrating the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term, along with other major national holidays and important political events.
