On the evening of March 13, at U Va Village, Noong Luong Commune, Dien Bien District, the Organizing Committee of the live performance show “Legend of U Va” held a spectacular showcase of Thai ethnic folk culture. The show featured 80 artisans and local performers from Dien Bien District.

With a duration of 48 minutes, the performance brings to life the stories of the Thai ethnic people, from ancient legends and myths to cultural traditions closely tied to their daily lives. These are vividly reenacted through unique Thai folk dances, showcasing the heritage of U Va Village in particular and the Thai ethnic group of Dien Bien Province in general.

The live show consists of 3 chapters: Chapter I - The Legend of the Thai People and U Va (The Tale of the Calabash) – highlighting ancient imprints of the Thai ethnic group; Chapter II – The Legend of the Pieu Scarf – celebrating love and the myth of Khau Cut; Chapter III – Rituals and Culture – portraying the deeply rooted traditions, humanistic values, and the pride of the Thai people, bridging the past and present (connecting modern individuals with their ancestral origins). Each act is seamlessly intertwined through the cultural essence of the Thai ethnic people.

The live performance show “Legend of U Va” is part of the 2025 Ban Flower Festival and the 8th Dien Bien Provincial Ethnic Culture, Sports, and Tourism Festival. This event aims to promote the legend, history, and distinctive folk dances and cultural traditions of the Thai ethnic group while integrating them into local tourism experiences. Moving forward, the “Legend of U Va” live performance show is expected to become a unique tourism product, deeply depicting the culture and history of the land and people of Dien Bien.

The live performance show, featuring the legends, history, and outstanding folk dances of the Thai ethnic culture, will take place at 8:00 PM on March 13 and March 15, 2025, at the U Va Village Cultural House, Noong Luong Commune, Dien Bien District./.
