Muong Thanh field

With the scale of over 140 km2, in Dien Bien province, Muong Thanh Rice Field is one of top largest fields in the Northwest of Vietnam. Visitors coming here will be appealed by the natural scenery and the richness of endless rice field of Muong Thanh.

The Muong Thanh rice fields can seem surprisingly beautiful as spring fades and summer begins.

Situated at an altitude of more than 400 m above sea level, Muong Thanh is a vast field stretches over 20 km with an average width of 6 km, about 15km from Dien Bien Phu city. The ideal time to visitor Muong Thanh and enjoy the fresh atmosphere here is from late September, when rice begins ripening in Muong Thanh field. Moreover, because of its location in Dien Bien basin, Muong Thanh field is like a giant "warehouse" filled with corn and rice and is the home to the nationwide famous rice brand of Dien Bien.

The bright yellow colour of the fields captivates plenty of visitors to the region.

From above, Muong Thanh field stretches along the Nam Rom River, spreading out like a flower petal embracing the Dien Bien Phu monuments. When coming to Muong Thanh, visitors will be amazed of the beautiful natural scenery of this place.

As we progress into the middle of May, the entirety of the Muong Thanh paddy fields in the north-western province of Dien Bien has been transformed by swathes of bright yellow, serving to bring a range of romantic scenery to the region.

Farmers in Dien Bien work to harvest rice as they gear up for the new season.

Members of the army are on hand to help farmers harvest the ripe rice.

 

Due to the hardworking nature of local farmers, the locality has become famous for producing delicious rice.

The atmosphere in the rice fields remains bustling despite the heat of the summer sun.
