On the evening of December 31, the 9th Swallowtail Boat Racing Festival and the 4th National Paragliding Club Championship officially opened in Muong Lay town. This is the opening event, kicking off the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024.

Mr. Vu A Bang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, spoke at the opening of the Festival.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Lo Van Mung, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Vu A Bang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee;  Leader representatives of relevant departments, agencies thousands of local people, international tourists, and representatives of some central agencies and departments.

In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vu A Bang emphasized: In 2024, Dien Bien is assigned to host and organize National Tourism Year activities with 168 national and provincial-level events, and 128 programs with participation from 33 provinces and cities nationwide.

Mr. Lo Van Mung, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Comrade Vu A Bang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, presented souvenirs to the teams participating in the Swallowtail Boat Racing Festival in 2024.

At the 9th Swallow Tail Boat Racing Festival and the 4th National Paragliding Club Championship this year, there are various rich and attractive activities such as: Announcement and awarding of the provincial heritage ranking certificate "Ban Bac Cave"; Cultural art program performed by provincial art troupe artists; Art program imbued with cultural identity performed by artists and actors of the Provincial Art Group; paragliding performance with electric fireworks and smoke cannons flying over the main stage; Sports dance exchange and costume performance of 19 ethnic groups in the province...

Opening performance at the Festival.

In particular, the Swallow Tail Boat Race content was raised to the provincial scale, with traditional boat racing and paragliding competitions. During the competitions, there are demonstrations of motor windsurfing and motor paragliding. Additionally, the first-ever Provincial Tourism Promotion Conference is held in Muong Lay town, attracting tourism experts and major travel companies.

In addition to a series of cultural activities and tourism promotion, people and tourists can also participate in various interesting sightseeing and experiences, such as visiting booths showcasing and introducing OCOP products, agricultural products, and typical tourism products of Dien Bien province; historical relics at the Pu Vap resort; the scenic beauty of the Ban Bac cave; boating to admire the beautiful scenery of the Son La hydroelectric reservoir; offering incense at the Le Loi Temple; visiting the traditional cake-making village of Khau Xen, Chi Chop; relaxing and enjoying local cuisine in cultural villages along the riverbanks; learning about the customs, practices, and folk art of the White Thai ethnic group; and experiencing paragliding... At this point, all preparations for the Paragliding Festival and Competition have been carried out meticulously, systematically, with close coordination between agencies and units.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vu A Bang awarded the provincial heritage certificate "Ban Bac Cave" to the people of Muong Lay town.

In order for the Festival to take place successfully, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vu A Bang requested relevant units to pay special attention to safety measures for racing and flying activities, especially the paragliding competition, which must strictly comply with regulations on licensed flight range.

A large number of local people and tourists from all over attended the Opening Ceremony.
