Opening of the Highland cultural space at the 2025 Ban Flower Festival
On the evening of March 13, at the Dien Bien Phu Cultural and Tourism Information Center, the Highland Cultural Space was officially inaugurated as part of the 2025 Ban Flower Festival and the 8th Dien Bien Provincial Ethnic Culture, Sports, and Tourism Festival.
Delegates performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Highland Cultural Space and the exhibition, introduction, and promotion of cultural and tourism products.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Tran Quoc Cuong, Member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Le Thanh Do, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and Mr. Vu A Bang, Provincial Party Member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. The event attracted a large number of delegates and visitors from both inside and outside the province, contributing to honoring the unique cultural values of the Northwest ethnic communities.
This year's highland cultural space is held at two main locations: Dien Bien Phu Cultural Exchange and Tourism Information Center and Dien Bien Phu Fortress Complex Relic Site (De Castries’ Bunker). The event recreates the daily life and traditional culture of ethnic communities through model houses, folk songs and dances, and a variety of local delicacies. Accordingly, the Dien Bien Provincial Museum, along with districts, towns, and cities, has set up exhibition booths introducing the distinctive cultural characteristics of ethnic groups in the region.The cultural space also features many interactive activities, such as performances of traditional cultural rituals and festivals, folk games including tossing cloth balls (tung con), tug-of-war, crossbow shooting, cargo bicycle racing, and a reenactment of Dien Bien soldiers of the past.

The Organizing Committee presented souvenir flags to the delegations participating in the Highland Cultural Space.
The cultural and tourism exhibition at this year's event includes 17 participating units (11 from outside the province and 6 from within the province), with a total of 84 booths. These booths display traditional handicrafts, local specialties, and attractive tourism services, helping to connect and foster tourism cooperation between provinces and cities.

The Ban Flower Festival and the Dien Bien Provincial Ethnic Culture, Sports, and Tourism Festival are significant cultural events aimed at preserving and promoting ethnic cultural identity while boosting tourism and showcasing the image of Dien Bien. The event is not only an opportunity for cultural exchange among ethnic groups but also allows visitors to experience the authentic lifestyle, customs, and traditions of local people.

The Highland Cultural Space will take place from March 13 to March 16, promising many exciting activities that contribute to building and developing Dien Bien’s culture while attracting both domestic and international visitors to this historic land.
