Radiant “Colors of Convergence” at the Art Exchange Program of the Festival of Northwest Quintessence - Dien Bien 2025

On the evening of September 21st, at 7/5 Square, Dien Bien province hosted the art exchange program of the Festival of Northwest Quintessence - Dien Bien 2025, themed “Colors of Convergence.” In attendance and supporting the event were: Le Thanh Do, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Vu A Bang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Ha Quang Trung, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee’s Organizing Committee; together with leaders of provincial departments, agencies, and localities.

The 80-minute art program opened with the song-and-dance performance “Northwest Welcoming the Spring Festival” and was divided into three parts: “Northwest - A Love Song Amidst the Great Forest,” “Northwest Bridge,” and “Hello Vietnam - Vietnam.” The repertoire included performances such as: Fragrance and Colors of Ban Flower Land, Lao Cai - The City in the Clouds, Oh Tuyen Quang, Son La - Land of Love, Lai Chau - Land of Legends, Phu Tho - My Homeland, My House on the Hillside, Invitation to the Northwest, Crossing the River, Brocade Flowers, Dien Bien - The City in My Heart, Hello City, Hello Ho Chi Minh City, Hello Vietnam, One Round of Vietnam… The event featured more than 60 artists and performers from the Ethnic Art Troupe of Dien Bien province and from other Northwest provinces as well as Ho Chi Minh City.

Part I, “Northwest - A love song in the middle of the forest” depicts the beauty of the Northwest, a land of majestic mountains, of white clouds drifting in the deep blue sky; stilt houses nestled on the mountainside, golden terraced fields in harvest season, all blending with the soulful sound of Mong flute, the bustling Thai xoe dance, to weave a sweet love song, both romantic and heroic. The beauty of the Northwest is not only in the majestic nature, but also shines in the souls of the people - sincere, warm, loyal like the source of the rivers and streams here.

Part II, “Northwest Bridge” is not only a connection of music and dance, it is also a bridge connecting hearts from Vietnam to friends around the world. In the shimmering light, the colorful costumes, the graceful steps, the arms outstretched like the arms of friends, together weave a multi-colored, polyphonic picture of international solidarity. That dance becomes a message: Northwest - Dien Bien always cherishes friendship, always accompanies friends around the world in the common aspiration for peace, cooperation and development.

Part III, “Hello Vietnam,” presented the image of Vietnam—the S-shaped land along the East Sea, blessed with majestic mountains and warm, hospitable people. It was not only a greeting to friends worldwide, but also a promise of friendship, an aspiration to reach out to the world with an open heart and generous spirit. “Hello Vietnam” was a greeting of peace, integration, and a shining future.

The program was a special highlight, a unique cultural and artistic event carrying profound meaning, honoring the distinctive traditional cultural values of the ethnic groups of the Northwest, while fostering exchanges and cooperation with international friends. It was an opportunity to showcase the cultural quintessence of the expanded Northwest provinces (Son La, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Ho Chi Minh City) through folk art performances, traditional costumes, and signature festivals, contributing to the preservation, celebration, and spread of ethnic cultural values, reinforcing national pride and community solidarity. More than just an artistic program, the Festival of Northwest Quintessence - Dien Bien 2025 was a colorful symphony of culture, friendship, and aspirations for development, helping to elevate the image of the Northwest region and of Vietnam on the international stage.

Concluding this meaningful art exchange program, under the warm, flickering firelight in Dien Bien - Northwest, delegates, honored guests, local residents, and visitors held hands and danced together in the circle of solidarity, the xoe dance of joy, friendship, and everlasting unity. It was not only a bond connecting Vietnamese hearts, but also a loving bridge reaching out to friends around the world, sending a message: “Let us hold hands and build together a beautiful, peaceful, and happy world.”
