Spectacular Opening Night of the Northwest Quintessence Festival – Dien Bien 2025

On the evening of September 19th, at the Provincial Stadium, Dien Bien Province, in coordination with the expanded Northwest provinces and Ho Chi Minh City, solemnly held the Opening Ceremony of the Northwest Quintessence Festival – Dien Bien 2025 amidst the anticipation of thousands of residents and visitors.

Brilliant fireworks illuminated the skies of Dien Bien, celebrating the success of the Opening Night.

Attending the Opening Night were Comrade Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; leaders of central ministries, agencies; current and former leaders of many provinces and cities; representatives of diplomatic missions, international organizations in Vietnam, tourism associations, enterprises, and a large number of visitors; as well as leaders of localities from Laos, China, Thailand, Russia, Algeria, France, Japan, and Korea; along with leaders and former leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and the expanded Northwest provinces.

On behalf of Dien Bien Province, attendees included Comrade Tran Quoc Cuong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Comrade Le Thanh Do, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; and leaders of the People’s Council, People’s Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, provincial departments, and localities. The program was broadcast live on Dien Bien Radio and Television, livestreamed on digital platforms, and simultaneously broadcast by other provinces and cities.

In his opening speech, comrade Tran Quoc Cuong - Secretary of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee affirmed that Festival activities would further strengthen and enhance tourism linkage among the expanded Northwest provinces and Ho Chi Minh City. The Festival aims to form a system of distinctive economic–cultural–tourism products rooted in local identity yet capable of reaching regional and international levels. Through this, the Northwest can participate proactively in broader tourism value chains, while boosting domestic product consumption and driving local economic growth.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan stressed that this regional-level event, rich in diverse, exciting, and in-depth cultural and tourism activities, reflects the determination of the Party, government, and people of the expanded Northwest and Ho Chi Minh City. The Festival serves as a highlight for boosting cooperation and tourism development, effectively promoting the region’s potential and advantages. It is also an opportunity for visitors to experience and explore the beauty of nature and ethnic cultures, fostering patriotism and national pride.

The Vice President called upon local authorities, enterprises, and communities to pursue tourism development under the principle: “Distinctive products – Professional services – Convenient and simple procedures – Competitive prices – Clean and beautiful environment – Safe, civilized, and friendly destinations.” She also urged ministries and central agencies to support favorable policies for rapid and sustainable tourism growth, while encouraging domestic and international enterprises to invest in projects that would act as new growth drivers for the Northwest.

The centerpiece of the Opening Night was the grand art program themed “Weaving the Clouds – Rising Northwest”, including an overture “Weaving the Eternal Mountains – Resonating Identity” and four chapters: “Touching Heritage – Awakening Quintessence”; “Painting the Horizon – Embroidering Mountain Love”; “Weaving Sounds – Threading New Sunlight”; “Binding Colors – Connecting Lives”

In addition, the celebratory mini-concert “Radiant Skies” brought electrifying performances that won enthusiastic cheers from thousands of residents and visitors.

The performance featured renowned artists such as Thu Minh, Tang Duy Tan, Ha Le, Oplus, Da LAB, Bao Tram, Nguyen Thu Hang, Mai Quinn, Thanh Phong, Ha Quynh Nhu, Rapper Rica & TRE Dance Crew, along with the Dien Bien Ethnic Art Troupe, Dien Bien Center for Culture and Cinema, ethnic artisans from the Northwest, local cultural clubs, students, and army units stationed in the province.

The stage was elaborately designed, blending tradition with modern creativity. Its semi-water setup harmonized land and water, symbolizing the natural unity of the Northwest and reflecting its rich cultural depth. Advanced technologies were deployed, including 3D visual art, large-scale projections, 3D mapping, kinetic water surfaces, laser effects, smoke and pyrotechnics, synchronized fireworks, creating a multi-dimensional immersive experience.

The night concluded with delegates, residents, and visitors joining hands in the great unity circle dance (Xoe Dai Doan Ket) beneath a dazzling firework display, marking the successful opening of the Festival.

The Northwest Quintessence Festival 2025 is taking place in Dien Bien Phu Ward, Dien Bien Province from September 19th to 21st, 2025, featuring a series of cultural and tourism events highlighting the heritage of Vietnam’s Northwest region. Key activities include the “Northwest Quintessence” Street Parade (September 20th), a Northwest–Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Conference (September 20th), and an Art Exchange Program (September 21st). Throughout the festival, visitors can also enjoy exhibitions of regional tourism destinations, a Northwest culinary fair, and the photo exhibition “Colors of the Northwest.”

As one of the region’s flagship events in 2025, the Festival aims to strengthen tourism cooperation between the Northwest provinces and Ho Chi Minh City, while promoting the area’s unique cultural identity to both domestic and international audiences. It seeks to transform the Northwest’s cultural and natural assets into distinctive tourism products under the common brand “Northwest Quintessence,” enhancing regional connectivity and positioning the Northwest as an attractive destination at both the national and international level.

The opening performance "Weaving the mountains and forests - Echoes of identity" is the opening speech that takes the audience on a journey to discover the Radiant Sky - where the original sounds of the Northwest mountains and forests blend with the rhythm of modern life.

Famous singers and artists brought a vibrant, youthful atmosphere to the art program.

The Northwest mountain and forest landscape was vividly and colorfully recreated.

Chapter I “Touching Heritage - Sparkling Essence” is an emotional journey through each layer of heritage - where each pattern, each sound of the mountains and forests contains the memories and souls of many generations of people here.

Northwest heritage is no longer a distant land, but appears vividly and brilliantly in today's life.

It is the preservation and dissemination that has ignited endogenous values, lit up pride and touched the hearts of every person who sets foot on this land.

Those values ​​are still blending in today's life, gently but intensely.

Chapter II “Painting the horizon - Embroidering mountain love”: Each flower of the Northwest is a thread with its own color and fragrance, forming a unique cultural harmony.

Audiences and visitors immerse themselves in a "party" of sound and light.

Chapter III "Weaving sounds - Weaving new sunshine": is when tradition and modernity blend together, when the Northwest and Ho Chi Minh City together create a picture of brilliant colors, rich in soul, and ready to reach out to the world.

Chapter IV "Combining fragrances and colors - Connecting life rhythms": is not only the crystallization of what has passed, but also the opening for what is to come - a new era, where the threads of the past and the future intertwine, creating brilliant, strong colors, affirming the aspiration to rise of an entire nation.

Delegates, people, and tourists held hands in a great solidarity circle to celebrate the success of the opening night of the Northwest Quintessence Festival – Dien Bien 2025.
