Tham Khen cave is ranked as a national monument
Recently, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued Decision No. 3086 / QD-BVHTTDL recognizing the scenic beauty of Tham Khen Cave, Muong Dun Commune, Tua Chua District, Dien Bien Province as a national monument from October 22, 2020.

Tham Khen Cave in Na Xa village , Muong Dun Commune, Tua Chua District, Dien Bien Province has a total area of the protected areas of 116,610.8 m2 which is formed millions of years ago, including 2 caves. The cave is located at an altitude of about 800m above sea level. The first cave curves in an S shape with a depth of about 160m, divided into 3 main compartments. The second W-shaped cave has a depth of about 280 meters, divided into 2 compartments and 2 small nooks. In the cave are stalactites of yellow, gray, moss green, forming a lot of stalactites, stone pillars, stone bells. Many colorful stalactites and rocks resembling pictures of amazing nature create a magical and mysterious scene that stimulates the imagination of the viewer. This is a cave with beautiful scenery, in addition to being a place for research, geological discovery and sightseeing tours.
The ranking of national monuments will be an important prerequisite for the locality to deploy the tasks of protection and exploitation to develop tourism. Along with the ranking of national monuments, the Ministry of Culture - Sports & Tourism also requires the People's Committees of all levels where the relic is to be ranked, within the scope of their duties and powers to manage the state for monuments in accordance with regulations on cultural heritage./.
