Vibrant street carnaval within the framework of the 2026 Ban Flower Festival

On the evening of March 9th, at the May 7 Square in Dien Bien Phu Ward, Dien Bien Province, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a street Carnaval program within the framework of the 2026 Ban Flower Festival with the theme “Dien Bien – Colors of Ban Flowers.” The program attracted nearly 2,900 performers, artisans, athletes, students, art clubs and a large number of local residents and tourists.

Artists performed musical and dance pieces praising the beauty of Dien Bien and the Ban flowers of the Northwest.

Attending the program were Comrade Tran Tien Dung, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Council, and leaders of the Provincial People’s Committee; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; former provincial leaders from different periods; leaders of provincial departments, agencies and localities; together with numerous residents and visitors.

The program lasted approximately 120 minutes and consisted of three parts: the opening ceremony and art program “Dien Bien – Colors of Ban Flowers”; the artistic motorbike and parade performance titled “Converging Colors”; and the street cultural parade “Dien Bien Welcomes a New Day.”

The program opened with the art performance themed “Dien Bien – Colors of Ban Flowers,” featuring impressive performances such as “Brightening Dien Bien,” “Flowers of the Mountains and Forests,” a Latin dance performance and a medley “One Round of Vietnam – Hello Vietnam.” The performances were elaborately staged, combining traditional and modern art forms to recreate the beauty of nature, culture and the renewed vitality of the land of Dien Bien.

May 7 Square was brilliantly illuminated during the street Carnaval night of the 2026 Ban Flower Festival.

Dancers brought lively performances, energizing the Carnaval atmosphere.

Following that, the artistic parade “Converging Colors” created an exciting atmosphere with the participation of thousands of artists, performers and art clubs. Highlights included performances by the Vietnam Motorbike Club, the Vietnam Circus Federation, the Cosplay Club, the Thai Art Troupe, along with ethnic art groups presenting Mong khene dances, Thai folk dances, Ha Nhi dances and performances of other ethnic groups in the province. In addition, street dance, hip-hop, sport dance and martial arts performances created a vibrant cultural panorama, demonstrating the fusion of tradition and modernity.

The highlight of the program was the street cultural parade “Dien Bien Welcomes a New Day” along central streets of the city. The parade started from May 7 Square, passing through Vo Nguyen Giap Street, the Dien Bien Phu Victory Monument roundabout, Thanh Binh Bridge and the Muong Thanh Hotel area, with the participation of about 2,900 artists, performers, students, club members and people from ethnic communities across the province.

Throughout the parade route, art groups performed and interacted with spectators and tourists at various stops, creating a lively and attractive festival atmosphere. Many performances reflected the cultural identity of the Northwest ethnic groups, such as Mong khene dances, Thai xoe dances and ethnic folk dances, blending with modern dances to honor cultural diversity and the spirit of integration of Dien Bien.

The organization of the street Carnaval for the first time in Dien Bien Province became a new highlight in the series of activities of the Ban Flower Festival, contributing to promoting the image of Dien Bien as a friendly land rich in cultural identity. At the same time, it gradually built a distinctive tourism product to attract both domestic and international visitors.

Dien Bien Tourism Ambassador – Runner-up Vu Thuy Quynh attended the street Carnaval program.

The traditional Thai xoe dance was performed at the street Carnaval program.

Folk dances of ethnic groups in Dien Bien created a unique cultural color.

Artists of the Vietnam Circus Federation performed impressive juggling and acrobatic acts.

The street Carnaval created a lively community cultural space for residents and tourists.

Artisans performed the Mong khene dance during the artistic parade.

The street Carnaval contributed to promoting Dien Bien’s cultural and tourism image to domestic and international visitors.

Brilliant fireworks illuminated the night sky above the Nam Rom River.

The program also created a vibrant community cultural space, spreading the spirit of solidarity, contributing to improving the spiritual and cultural life of the people and promoting the tourism potential of Dien Bien Province. At the end of the program, delegates, residents and visitors enjoyed a spectacular high-altitude fireworks display shining over the Nam Rom River, lighting up the festive night and bringing the 2026 Ban Flower Festival to a memorable and emotional close./.
